The main location for the game is Inaba, a fictional South-Central Japanese rural suburb of about forty thousand people.

Yasogami High School: Local high school attended by our heroes. Teaching staff includes Teddie (home room, second year), Hanako Ohtani (home room, first year) and Daisuke Nagase (Physical Education).

Junes Department Store: A large, Japanese style department store; it is a tall building with nearly anything a household could ever need on it's various floors. As with most department stores, the roof boasts a food court, and the basement levels sell groceries, side dishes, pastries and other prepared take-home foods. This Junes location's general manager is out-of-towner Yosuke Hanamura.

Central Shopping District: A street where numerous small, family owned businesses are located. Once in decline because of Junes, the area has seen a revival as of late.

  • Izanagi Ramen: A new edition to the shopping district, this ramen shop is quickly becoming a popular eatery with Inaba's youth. Its owner and head chef is out-of-towner Yu Narukami.
  • Tatsumi Textiles: A dye and clothes shop owned by the Tatsumi family. Within the last few years the shop has expanded to include numerous cute knitted knickknacks and collectibles, all hand-made by new proprietor and owner Kanji Tatsumi.
  • Konishi Liquor: A small liquor store, currently run by Naoki Konishi.
  • Tatsuhime Shrine: A Shinto shrine overlooking the shopping district from a hill the street wraps around. Once in decline and disuse, the shrine has been better kept in recent years.
  • Marutake Hobby Shop: A shop where model kits and other hobbyist items and supplies can be purchased.
  • Souzai Daigaku: A shop selling steak-based street food, like yakitori or croquettes. It's name translates to "University of Side-Dishes."
  • Chinese Diner Aiya: Another local favorite, owned and run by young Aika Nakamura, though her father is still head chef. On rainy days, they serve a "Mega Beef Bowl" for 3,000 yen. However if you can finish this massive portal to the meat dimension, the meal is free.
  • Shiroku Store: A family owned convenience store with a capsule machine out in front. Has special promotions on rainy days.
  • Shiroku Pub: Open only at night inside the Shiroku Store. How the establishment is able to make the rather dramatic transformation every day is a mystery.
  • Marukyu Tofu: A traditional tofu shop owned by the Kujikawa family. The current owner is the middle aged daughter of the previous owner, whom locals affectionately call Obachan. She is rarely without her dog, a grey french poodle named Francis.
  • Daidara Metalworks: A blacksmith that sells all sorts of questionable things like weapons and armor. The proprietor is especially fond of taking special materials from potential customers to make and sell them something truly remarkable.
  • Yomenaido Bookstore: Corner store that sells all manner of books and manga.

Samegawa Flood Plain: The river bed running through Inaba, like all rivers in Japan, it is given wide berth and concrete walls to accept swelling from heavy rains. The road and park at the top of the embankment is also the main route to Yasogami High School.

Amagi Inn: An old style Japanese inn run by the Amagi family. The inn also boasts an expansive hot spring. The acting proprietress is Yukiko Amagi, though she is apprenticed to her mother, who is still the official proprietress.

Yasoinaba Municiple Hospital: Large hospital in the heart of Inaba.

Yasoinaba Police Department: Headquarters for Inaba's police department. The Chief Inspector at this station is Ryotaro Dojima. Naoto Tatsumi and her subordinate Chie Santonaka are plainclothes detectives in this department.

Inaba Station: Inaba's train station, home of the mysterious Midnight Express
